Mohammed Afzal Khan originally started his career in the law as a police constable for the Greater Manchester Police Force in 1987. He then went returned to education to complete a law degree at Manchester Polytechnic, now known as MMU. He qualified as a solicitor in May 1996 at HSK solicitors and went onto become a partner.
Afzal’s main area of law has always been crime and he ran a successful criminal practice. Afzal now primarily specialises in family and human rights law. Afzal Khan also has an active interest in politics and was the former Lord Mayor of Manchester, he is also a sitting Labour Councillor for the Cheetham ward in Manchester.
Afzal Khan also enjoys developing and growing legal practices and started Khan Solicitors in April 2005. In September 2008 he decided to acquire Mellor & Jackson as he believes that Khan Solicitors and Mellor & Jackson together would be able to provide an excellent level of quality legal services to the North West of England. This service would also cater for the diverse community that we have in this part of the country.
